When I lived in the Southwest I'd never even heard of goldenrod or Solidago. This plant made a huge impact on me my first fall here in Tennessee. They say sometimes certain plants can "speak" to you. Goldenrod shouted at me again and again "get out there and speak". Perhaps many of you already know about the amazing benefits goldenrod has on the upper respiratory tract (as well as urinary tract). Perhaps this is why it encourages you to lift your voice to be heard.
Goldenrod has a fun identifying feature. Do you see that little rosette of leaves in the middle? That's caused by bugs eating at the stem. The damage causes the plant to stop growing the yellow flowers but grows this little rosette of leaves instead. It literally grows into something more beautiful when it's been damaged. If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.
